i often read youtube’s comments “yeh MIA + GAGA/RIHANNA collabo please!!!!!
NO never this ain’t gonna happen!!!!!!
i had to unfollow many artists [such as Mary J Blige] because my timeline looked like an ads. wall where everyone was selling mp3s or albums, begging to “support the artist” 24/7.
The only time she referred to buy her music she defined it a “contractual tweet”, also unveiling labels pressure on artists:
Plus, when she went on letterman she said she was whoring herself (her art)
While “Rated R” can be sang, performed and written by any mainstream artist - from Katy Perry to Britney Spears - in fact you can consider these two artists as having two different sounds but the excuse of switching the sound and call it “evolution” for a more commercial and salable one is always handy. But an album like “Kala” comes both from personal life (culture, music preferences, knowledge, travels etc) and a 100% involvement from the artist during the creation process, it can’t be created from no one but M.I.A.
she addressed several times to how the music industry treats and influence artists. many artists to justify their albums pushbacks, they front and say that “we are trying to write more music, refine and perfect the record”, M.I.A. explicitly blamed her label.
“It’s just one of those things where I’ve given up at this point. I was literally going to start… putting out records from my bedroom,” she said. “This was my last stab at it – I’m going to hand it in and wait for it to go out the way albums go out. If I didn’t get it out right now, I would’ve definitely exploded.”
she also addressed to label’s marketing strategy while talking about Lady GaGa
“Lady Gaga plugs 15 things in her new video. Dude, she even plugs a burger! That’s probably how [record labels] are making money right now—buying up the burger joint, putting the burger in a music video and making loads of burger money.”
the list goes on and on but i’ll write more in the future
Guys, you have the right to say whatever you want about what I wrote on Lady GaGa in a burqa, but you need to make a point. that’s something you are supposed to learn at the pre-k. cos some matters go beyond our personal taste or how heavy our mind is brainwashed. Make a point! Thinking and reflecting is not illegal - they told you it is but it’s not, trust me. it is very intersting to read something intelligent. On the other hand, reading pointless bullshit is very annoying.
Unfounded comments are not welcome. Beautiful minds »> WELCOME!!
